Welcome to the world of diabetes. If you’ve been recently diagnosed, we know dealing with your diabetes on a daily basis can be a daunting task. One daily task you’ll have to perform is checking to make sure your blood glucose sugar levels are normal. Depending on what your physician tells you, and depending on the type of diabetes you have, you may have to check your levels up to 10 times a day. So below are just a few easy steps to make this task much easier for you. At Gmate, along with your physicians, we want to help guide you to a much healthier and happier life.
1. Place a test strip into your meter.
Gmate has test strips and meters that you can use to test your daily blood glucose sugar levels. We recommend the Gmate SMART Meter, which allows you to plug the meter into your phone through the earphone jack. The light on the meter will turn on when it’s ready. Then, place your test strip into the meter.
The Gmate SMART is only $15.99
2. Prepare your lancet & use rubbing alcohol to clean your finger.
A lancet, or a blood lancet, is a small medical instrument used for blood sampling, especially in cases for people with diabetes that need to test their blood sugar levels. Lancets typically come primed and ready for you to use, so all you really have to do is place your un-used lancet inside of your lancet device. Once it is secure, remove your lancet’s protective cap, exposing the needle. Then gage your setting to how deep you want the needle to prick your skin, depending on how thin or thick your skin is. Once your lancet device is ready, prep the desired finger you’d like to retrieve blood from with rubbing alcohol for cleanliness. Now you’re ready to hit the button on the side of the lancet, causing the exposed needle inside to penetrate your finger’s skin.
3. Place blood onto your test strip and receive instant results.
After placing a droplet of blood onto your test strip, your Gmate SMART will begin to calculate the results in no time. After a few quick seconds, the results will appear on your phone’s screen and be logged within your other past results. You can also input comments for reference, particularly how you were feeling the day you took the test and any other thoughts you’d like to have recorded. Another great feature is the ability to ext those results to anyone you’d like. Once you complete your test and retrieve your results, dispose of your test strip, and safely store your Gmate SMART until next time.
